Application for Dental Specialist Accreditation

Dental specialist accreditation by the DSAB is currently only applicable to dentists who:

• are registered with the Singapore Dental Council (SDC),

• have a valid practising certificate in force, and

• fulfil the conditions set out by the DSAB.

Prospective applicants should contact the DSAB Secretariat at DSAB@spb.gov.sg for clarification of instructions in advance of their intention to apply for accreditation.

Dental specialist accreditation assessments are held twice a year, in March and September. Application deadlines will be set about six weeks before the scheduled exit interviews, i.e. around February and August respectively.

The accreditation assessment announcements will be posted on the Dental Specialists Accreditation Board (DSAB) and College of Dental Surgeons, Singapore (CDSS) websites.

It is the onus of the applicants to ensure that they have requested and received recognition and certification of their qualifications from the DSAB, proof of which is compulsory and required to accompany their application for accreditation. (As certification requests may take a minimum of two months, please submit your request at least two months before you intend to apply for accreditation.)

Prospective candidates are to submit the online application with copies of relevant qualifications and supporting documents to the DSAB Secretariat by the application deadline, for verification of registration status.

Verified applications will be forwarded to the CDSS Secretariat, who will liaise with applicants for the submission of application materials (as stipulated in criteria) and payment of fees (as indicated in announcement). Appointments for the submission of application materials will be in the fortnight after the application deadline.

Applications received by the submission deadline do not translate to fulfilment of accreditation requirements or eligibility and is not a guarantee of an exit interview at the next scheduled assessment.

Applicants whose qualifications and application materials meet the eligibility criteria will be invited to attend the exit interview.

Processing time and application outcomes
For straightforward applications, the results of applications will reach the dentist is approximately 4 months from the close of the Diet Exam application deadline. The actual processing time for the Specialist Registration application upon receipt of Specialist Accreditation approval is 3 weeks. Applications that require further deliberation and/or information may take a longer time to process.
